About US 27: | This road once went all the way to Mackinaw City, Michigan before being cut back, first to I-75 near Gaylord, then finally to its present endpoint at I-69. Sometime soon I expect to find it has been cut back again to I-469 south of Fort Wayne, but until then it holds a unique place in that it goes through a major Indiana City instead of bypassing it.

This is looking south on the old US 27 as it enters into Indiana. While there is no "Welcome to Indiana" sign (due to the road being a county road), there is a cross in the middle of the street showing both the state border and the two sides of the road. There are signs on the right welcoming you to Stuben County, and a couple of signs giving the usual state laws.
This is looking north on old US 27 as it leaves Indiana for the State of Michigan. Underneath the speed limit sign is a "State Line" sign so old that the letters and border are actually upraised on the metal itself. There's also another interesting sign beyond that probably put up before the Interstate System, but I'll leave that to Daniel Garnell's Michigan Site.

This is looking south on Indiana 3. While Indiana 3 ends, the overhead shows the street as US 27 south going into Fort Wayne. This is pretty much the beginning of US 27.
This is looking north on US 27. While US 27 probably ends closer to the intersection, this is where the "end 27" sign is posted. In the distance is first reassurance sign for the northern portion of Indana 3.
